The Adventures of Koa and Mowich. Story by Laura Moody. Photos by Scott Moody. This book is dedicated to Koa and Mowich's mother, Kenai.
Koa and Mowich are two wonderful Yellow Labrador Retrievers.
They came from a big family of ten puppies. Momma Kenai stayed very busy feeding them.
Koa and Mowich loved playing with their brothers and sisters.
The whole family loved the water. They learned to swim at a young age.
All this fun left them tired but happy.
One by one the puppies left for new homes.
Soon only Koa and Mowich were left with their Momma.
They loved Momma but were ready for an adventure.
Momma Kenai loved her puppies but was ready to return to her own adventures.
One day a man and women came to get a puppy. The man liked Mowich...
The woman liked Koa (but also liked how Mowich looked after his sister).
They decided to get both puppies and built a new house in the country for the new family.
Koa and Mowich grew strong playing in the big yard.
Then one day Koa's back legs gave out. She had hip dysplasia and the doctor said she would need an operation.
While koa was away, Mowich missed his playmate. He was sad.
He waited patiently with sister Sara kitty...
... and sister Naches.
When Koa got home from the hospital, Mowich stayed with her. He gave her encouragement.
Soon she could go outside for gentle activity.
With lots of rest ...
... and gentle exercise, Koa got stronger.
Soon Koa was again playing with Mowich (and taking his stick).
"Watch this, Koa!" said Mowich diving after the ball. He was happy his sister was better.
By summer they were hiking ...
... and swimming in the mountain lakes. And guess who they saw on the trail?
They celebrated the reunion with a picnic on Dog Mountain (of course).
